Hundreds of union of the Non Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics NASUP, and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics SSANIP, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, stormed the institution on Monday morning and shut the main gate leading to the school, thus denying academic and non- academic staff access to the campus.
Academic activities were paralysed as many students who had turned up for lectures were ordered back home.
Our correspondent gathered that some executives of union of the institution constituted the bulk of those who locked up the gate

The union said they were protesting the non-payment of their four months salary by the government of Ogun state . They told our correspondent that they had concluded their communique to embark on indefinite strike till the government paid their salaries and pensions.

The union , who conducted their protest peacefully, were said to have left the school gate around 2.30pm.

In his reaction, Rector of the institution, Dr Samson Odedina , pleaded to the union that the state government will do the needful as he has been on top of the matter and he assured them of government intervention as soon as possible.


Meanwhile, Comrade Kola Sopade, Chairman of NASU, Comrade M.K Olawunmi of SSANIP they said the government is really wicked over the unpaid four months salary to the MAPOLY staff, he said the institution is loosing the staff one by one to sickness and hunger due to inability to foot bills at appropriate time.
