Driven by the determination to serve his people of Yewa North and Imeko Afon Federal Constituency and in the process to give new definition to political representation, Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi FCA has declared his intention to run for the Federal House of Representatives seat of his federal constituency, Yewa North/ Imeko Afon of Ogun West in 2019.
Declaring his intention to run for the Federal House of Representatives seat on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi explained that having been part of the electorates for long voting for political office holders, he has not been satisfied with quality of representation especially in his Federal Constituency, Yewa North/Imeko Afon and he believed he has all it takes to give political representation a new definition in his constituency and in Ogun West Senatorial district.
The Joga Orile born fellow of the Institute of Chatered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) who has been a financial foundation member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was at the Ibooro/Joga Orile ward meeting of the African Democratic Congress on Friday August 3rd to join the ADC and make known his intention to contest for the Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal House of Representatives seat on the platform of the party in 2019.
The financial expert cum real estate magnate who obviously is going to be a big boost to the fold of African Democratic Congress not only in Ibooro/Joga ward but also in Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency and in Ogun State as the party pursues victory in the coming poll having hit the ground running since he ventured into politics with a well grounded political structure in place was received with pomp and pageantry by the visibly happy executives and members of ADC in his ward.
While answering question on why he left APC for African Democratic Congress, Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi explained that he joined APC because of the promise by the party to bring about positive change in the nation, entrench the rule of law and internal democracy in the party. All these agreed with the vision he had entering into politics. He added that when APC emerged from the merger that gave birth to it, it held promises for a politician like him that believed that there should be departure from the old order.
“My decision to join African Democratic Congress (ADC) now after very wide consultation that involved every level of my supporters is because the All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to live up to the ideals behind its’ formation and has not delivered the true democracy the vision behind its’ formation promised.
Jagunmolu Omoniyi went further: “Since APC as a party failed to deliver on its’ promises and can no longer support the kind of aspiration I have, I considered the time ripe for me to move on and align with a platform that can support my aspiration and welcome my planned programmes of action for political office.
According to Jagunmolu of Joga Orile who is also the Mayegun of Igan-Okoto, ADC and Jagunmolu’s aspiration share same ideology in common and he sees the vision behind the formation of the party as enough drive that will make it live up to its’ promises especially welfare programmes for the people and the nation, same as his aspiration for political office.
Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi who is very passionate about his people and has always been involved in growth and development efforts in Ogun West especially through his Fausat Asakun Memorial Foundation, said his aspiration was not borne out of ego or ambition but a desire to get involved at the right level of governance where he could be of help in bringing down the hands of the federal government down to a unit of the federation, Yewa North Imeko Afon Federal Constituency in much more better way than ever before.
“You have all seen what those before us have done, the kind of dividends they have brought home as our representative in government. I am sure that they too believe in improvement, progress and advancement. I am assuring you that from us will come better democracy dividends. If I have not identified room for improvement I will not be aspiring. You have also seen the time of the delivery of the dividends they brought home, we will also beat their delivery time and set new records of timely attending to the needs of the electorates. Continuous engagement of the electorate will guarantee that" he said.
Hundreds of Jagunmolu supporters of APC Yayi Movement including wards and local government executives across the 21 Wards of Yewa North and Imeko Afon Local Government Areas making up the Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency joined the ADC along with Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi and were received into the moving ADC train by the Chairman of the party in Ibooro/Joga Orile Ward, Mr Lateef Abolade Erubami.
In his reaction, the Chairman of ADC in Ibooro/Joga Orile ward, Mr. Lateef Abolade Erubami extols the virtues of Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi describing him as a great asset to the ADC in Ogun State. Mr. Erubami therefore urged more politicians hoping to see Nigeria freed politically from the retrogressive way the country is presently being run to join the ADC which is a very credible alternative to the divided ruling All Progressives Congress.
