The President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou,
has called for a new international military intervention in
Libya, under UN supervision, to neutralise the rampaging
militias.
The Nigerien head of state made the call in an interview on
Tuesday in Niamey.
He said “there is a need to have French, U.S. and British
troops in there to repair the damage they caused.
“It is high time they provided after sales services,’’ Issoufou
said.
According to Issoufou, neighbouring countries should be on
hand to help, and Niger will play its part.
“There is also the need to reconcile all Libyan parties,
including supporters of the late Mouammar Gaddafi, with a
view to forming a national unity government.
“Libya is the source of evil, if we do nothing, we will
encourage disaster,’’ he added.
