The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State has commenced intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders and stakeholders converging on the Local Government Secretariat for a strategic meeting.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, brought together prominent APC leaders, elected representatives, party executives and members from the 12 wards and various polling units across the Local Government.

The stakeholders deliberated on strategies for strengthening the party’s grassroots structure, improving mobilisation and sustaining engagement with voters as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Addressing the gathering, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, urged party members and leaders to sustain their mobilisation efforts, stressing the importance of unity and effective coordination at ward and polling-unit levels.

Egbetokun called on stakeholders to work collectively across the Local Government, noting that every member of the party has a role to play in building a stronger electoral structure.

According to him, the objective of the mobilisation drive is to improve the party’s electoral performance and build on the results recorded during the 2023 general elections.

Also speaking, Engr. Babatunde Adesina charged party stakeholders to contribute their time, resources and experience to the mobilisation process.

He maintained that the responsibility of building a strong party structure should not be left to candidates alone, but should involve all stakeholders working together towards a common objective.

The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Sen. Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, commended the turnout of party members and stakeholders at the meeting.

Salisu described Obafemi Owode Local Government as an important component of Ogun State’s progressive political tradition, while recalling the contributions of past party leaders to the development of the APC and the state.

The senator also highlighted some of the legislative and developmental initiatives recorded during his tenure at the National Assembly and assured constituents of his continued commitment to legislation and the facilitation of developmental projects.

He subsequently called for sustained support and cooperation among party stakeholders as the 2027 general elections approach.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, said the council was prepared to intensify mobilisation and coordination across the 12 wards.

Ogunsola further announced that the Local Government would recognise and reward the ward that records the strongest electoral performance in the forthcoming general elections.

The council chairman said Obafemi Owode had historically played a significant role in the electoral fortunes of the party, urging stakeholders to work collectively towards improving the APC’s performance in 2027.

He also urged party leaders and members at the ward and polling-unit levels to remain committed, coordinated and focused as political activities leading to the elections increase.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for party stakeholders to exchange views on grassroots mobilisation and the need for stronger coordination between party leaders, elected representatives, ward executives and members at polling-unit level.

Among the prominent personalities who attended the meeting were Rt. Hon. Olumide Osoba, Member of the House of Representatives; Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, member of the Ogun State House of Assembly; Hon. Nike Osoba; Chief Olude, APC Party Chairman; Hon. Sofela, among other party leaders and stakeholders.

The stakeholders’ meeting ended with renewed calls for unity, grassroots engagement and effective coordination across the 12 wards of Obafemi Owode Local Government as the APC begins to intensify its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
