The Ogun State Park Management Services Limited (PAM) has adopted Alhaji Olamilekan Balogun, popularly known as “Simple,” as its new State Chairman, following a decision reached at the union’s monthly state meeting held in Abeokuta.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Executive Council, zonal chairmen, branch chairmen and unit leaders representing the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State.
The meeting, presided over by the Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Jamiu Balogun, focused on issues concerning the unity, stability, progress and operational efficiency of PAM across the state.
Addressing participants, Jamiu said the State Executive Council, after consultations with leaders and stakeholders, had unanimously agreed to adopt Olamilekan Balogun as the state chairman to oversee the affairs and activities of PAM in Ogun.
He said the decision was aimed at ensuring continuity and effective leadership within the organisation, describing Balogun as a tested and trusted stakeholder with considerable knowledge of the state's transport system.
According to him, the new chairman had contributed to maintaining peace in various parks and garages across Ogun State.
Jamiu urged members to support the new leadership, describing Balogun as a “man of peace” and a unifier capable of moving PAM forward.
He added that activities relating to park operations, ticketing, drivers’ welfare and compliance with directives of the Ogun State Government would be coordinated under the new leadership.
Branch, Zonal Leaders Pass Vote Of Confidence
Following the announcement, branch chairmen and zonal leaders took turns to express their support for the new chairman and subsequently passed a vote of confidence in his leadership.
The leaders described Balogun’s emergence as well-deserved and pledged their loyalty and cooperation to his administration.
In his acceptance speech, Balogun thanked God, the State Executive Council and members of PAM for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to operate an open-door and inclusive administration, promising to prioritise unity, discipline and the progress of the organisation.
“I thank the Almighty God and the entire PAM family for this trust. I promise to work for unity, discipline and progress of our union,” he said.
Balogun also warned that his administration would not tolerate hooliganism or violence in parks, while pledging to work with relevant authorities to promote order and safety across the state’s transport system.
He said PAM under his leadership would cooperate with the Ogun State Government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, to promote sanity on the roads.
The new chairman further appealed to members to remain law-abiding, avoid actions capable of creating internal crises and channel grievances through the appropriate leadership structures.
The monthly meeting ended with prayers for peace in Ogun State, the success of the state government and a successful tenure for the new PAM leadership.
