The FCT Police Command has arrested one Gift Amos, a resident of Lugbe community, for allegedly pouring boiling water on her neighbor, Mrs Beauty Monday, following a heated argument on September 4.
The matter was then reported to the Lugbe Police Division on September 7.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the incident occurred during an argument over the use of a shared compound space.
Adeh said it was established that the victim had moved the suspect’s pot of boiling water from the stove to the portion of the compound allocated to her.
‘’The action angered the suspect, who subsequently removed the pot from the stove and poured the boiling water on the victim’s back. The victim is currently receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained. The suspect has since been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings, with the matter adjourned to the 16th of September 2026.’’ Adeh said
Adeh emntioned that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, calls on members of the public to embrace peaceful coexistence and exercise restraint in resolving disagreements. The CP further urged residents to desist from acts of self-help and avoid resorting to violence when faced with disputes or other challenging situations. Members of the public are encouraged to seek lawful and peaceful means of resolving conflicts.
