ODOGBOLU, OGUN STATE — The Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Dr. Diya, has intensified grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, engaging 140 canvassers from Ward 5 and urging them to strengthen their commitment towards the political fortunes of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At the engagement meeting, the council chairman charged the canvassers to remain united, disciplined, accessible and dedicated to their responsibilities, describing them as critical components of the party's grassroots mobilisation machinery.
The meeting was convened to assess the preparedness of the 140 canvassers, review their organisational performance and reinforce their commitment to mobilising support for Yayi and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Dr. Diya disclosed that Ward 5 currently ranked second in Odogbolu Local Government, a position he said, while reflecting the ward's growing organisational strength and commitment, was not sufficient for the level of political performance expected from the grassroots structure.
He challenged the canvassers to intensify their efforts, improve coordination across polling units and work collectively towards achieving greater mobilisation results as the 2027 political season approaches.
According to the chairman, the meeting was part of deliberate efforts to keep the party's grassroots structures active, motivated and prepared for the responsibilities ahead.
He explained that his decision to personally engage the canvassers was informed by his recognition of their contributions to the party and his determination to maintain regular communication with those working at the ward and unit levels.
Diya emphasised that the canvassers remained essential to the party's grassroots operations, noting that their effectiveness would be instrumental in strengthening APC's presence across the ward and the local government.
### Diya Pledges ₦5m, Presents ₦2.3m First Tranche
In a significant gesture of support and encouragement, the council chairman pledged the sum of ₦5 million to Ward 5's canvassers to support their mobilisation activities ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He subsequently presented ₦2.3 million as the first tranche of the pledged amount during the meeting, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the ward's political structure and strengthening its operational capacity.
The canvassers also received cartons of hibiscus-flavoured drinks and campaign memorabilia as part of the chairman's efforts to appreciate their contributions and boost their morale.
The presentation was greeted as part of a broader engagement aimed at reinforcing unity, encouraging active participation and ensuring that the ward's mobilisation network remained functional.
Diya reiterated that the canvassers constituted the machinery required to energise the various polling units and drive grassroots mobilisation across Ward 5.
He urged them to translate the encouragement and support received into renewed dedication, stronger coordination and sustained engagement with party members and residents at the grassroots.

Extending the scope of the initiative beyond Ward 5, the chairman assured that canvassers across all 15 wards in Odogbolu Local Government would equally be visited and energised by him ahead of the 2027 general elections.
