Otunba Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and convener of the Alternative, has hailed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election in Osun State as proof that grassroots performance now outweighs federal influence in Nigerian politics.
In a statement on Sunday, Showunmi argued that the outcome of the Osun governorship election sent a strong message: voters are increasingly prioritizing local achievements and community impact over the sway of Abuja politics.
According to him, the election result is a “clear verdict” that public goodwill, earned through tangible governance at the state level, cannot be overridden by external political pressure.
