The campaign council of Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral video in which he allegedly made inciting comments against Accord Party members.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, was reportedly addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Ilesa ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In the video, the senator, speaking in Yoruba, accused Accord Party members of attacking APC supporters and urged his audience to retaliate.
He was also seen daring attendees to record and share his remarks online.Reacting, Adeleke campaign spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi described the comments as a threat to lives and the peaceful conduct of the election.
“Mr Inspector-General of Police, this must be addressed immediately. Nobody has the right to kill an Accord member or any citizen. Nobody has the right to stop Osun people from voting. Enough is enough!” he said.
The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding police action.
Osun indigene Wale Akintoye questioned why authorities had not acted, while another user, Adenike Bekky, stressed that political differences should never justify threats to citizens’ lives.
