ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has applauded the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, for the swift deployment of an operational police aircraft to the state, describing the move as a major boost to ongoing efforts to combat criminality and enhance public safety.

The deployment followed a request by Governor Abiodun, who sought additional aerial support to reinforce the state's security architecture and strengthen the fight against kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements operating within Ogun State.

Receiving the aircraft and its crew on behalf of the Ogun State Government, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, conveyed the Governor's profound appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for his prompt approval of the request and his unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.

Talabi stated that the arrival of the operational aircraft marks another significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between the Ogun State Government and security agencies to maintain peace and ensure the safety of residents.

According to him, the aircraft will greatly improve aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations across the state, particularly in difficult terrains such as forests, border communities, and other identified criminal hideouts.

"The deployment of this operational aircraft will significantly strengthen security operations by providing enhanced aerial support for intelligence gathering and coordinated responses to emerging security threats," Talabi said.

He noted that the aircraft would play a strategic role in the ongoing Operation Kosaye, the state's joint security initiative established to flush out kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements from forests and vulnerable locations across Ogun State.

The SSG emphasized that the enhanced aerial capability would complement the efforts of conventional security personnel on the ground, improve operational efficiency, and further restrict the activities of criminal gangs seeking to undermine peace in the state.

He described the development as another clear demonstration of the strong partnership between the Ogun State Government and the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, adding that such collaboration has continued to produce positive outcomes in the fight against insecurity.

Governor Abiodun, through the SSG, reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to supporting all security agencies operating in Ogun State with the necessary logistics, equipment, and operational assistance required to effectively carry out their constitutional responsibilities.

He stressed that security remains a critical pillar of his administration's development agenda, noting that a peaceful and secure environment is essential for attracting investments, promoting economic growth, and improving the quality of life of residents.

The Governor assured citizens that his administration would continue to invest in innovative security initiatives and strengthen partnerships with federal security agencies to ensure that Ogun State remains one of the safest states in Nigeria.

The deployment of the operational police aircraft is expected to further consolidate ongoing security operations across the state and reinforce the government's determination to sustain the fight against crime while guaranteeing the safety of lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
