SAGAMU, OGUN STATE — History was made in the ancient town of Ewuga as dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to witness the official installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday Oladimeji Osho, as the Elewuga of Ewuga.
The colorful ceremony, steeped in rich cultural heritage and royal grandeur, marked the formal commencement of Oba Osho’s reign over the kingdom, drawing notable figures from across Sagamu Local Government and Ogun State.
Among the prominent dignitaries in attendance was the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Odulate, who delivered a powerful message centered on unity, traditional governance, and sustainable grassroots development.
Addressing the newly installed monarch, Ogbeni Odulate extended his heartfelt congratulations to Kabiyesi while underscoring the critical, irreplaceable role that traditional institutions play in modern society. He emphasized that traditional rulers remain the chief custodians of peace, order, and cultural harmony within their domains.
"Traditional institutions are the bedrock of community stability," Odulate stated. He urged Oba Osho to lead his people with wisdom, fairness, and an open heart, stressing that a successful reign is built on inclusive governance that accommodates all residents regardless of background or status.
Turning his attention to the people of Ewuga, the Council Boss issued a passionate appeal for unity and collective responsibility. He urged community members to put aside personal differences, embrace one another, and prioritize the overarching interest and advancement of Ewuga.
"When we work together and give everyone the opportunity to contribute, we create a stronger foundation for meaningful development," Odulate remarked, highlighting that lasting progress is only achievable in an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared purpose.
The Executive Chairman expressed optimism for the future of the kingdom, wishing Kabiyesi a peaceful, long, and impactful reign while assuring the people of Sagamu Local Government’s continued support toward the growth and prosperity of Ewuga.
The joyous event concluded with traditional rites, prayers, and cultural displays as the people of Ewuga celebrated the official beginning of a new era.
Offering a traditional Yoruba royal homage to the monarch, Odulate concluded: "Káàde pẹ̀ lórí Kabíyèsí, kí bàtà pẹ̀ lẹ́sẹ̀, kí ẹṣin Ọba jẹ́ oko pẹ̀, kánrìn kese."
