Popular TikToker and streamer, Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has revealed why he repeatedly refused to learn a trade despite pressure from his parents.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Peller said he could not understand why he should apprentice under someone who struggled to make N20,000 in a week.

According to him, “My daddy want me to learn work. My mommy want me to learn work, but me I no want learn work.”

Explaining his mindset at the time, he said, “What give me the assurance say that work, wey I want learn, I go use am, like, carry better money come? Imagine, they tell you say, make I go learn work for p++r man. And person wey be say, to make 20,000 naira in one week, e dey hard am. Wetin give me the assurance say me I go dey make pass am? Him wey sabi the work pass me, wey want teach me the work.”

Although he acknowledged that “Grace dey. Glory dey wey we know,” Peller said he believed his destiny lay elsewhere.

Instead of going to the workshop, he admitted he would sneak off to play football, which he considered his dream career.

“As they send me go the work, I dey go, but I dey run away. I dey always do as if say I go in the morning. In the night, I go come back home. I go go play football because football na my career.”

He added that he once imagined himself becoming a global football star.

“Na me suppose dey World Cup like this, dey play for all, everybody.”
However, he said fate had other plans.

“But God, e change my life to TikToker, streamer. E change my life to streamer, change my life to everything.”
