Former UK High Commissioner Sarafa Ishola Commends Abeokuta North's Performance, Lauds Council's People-Centred Governance

ABEOKUTA – Former Nigeria's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and elder statesman, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola, has commended the leadership and workforce of Abeokuta North Local Government for their commitment to effective governance, efficient service delivery, and administrative excellence during an official visit to the Council Secretariat.

The respected diplomat was warmly received by the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, alongside the Vice Chairman, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbayemi, statutory appointees, management staff, and Special Assistants, in what was described as a significant visit aimed at fostering institutional growth and encouraging good governance.

During the visit, Ambassador Ishola toured various departments and offices within the Secretariat, interacting with members of staff and observing the council's daily administrative operations firsthand. The visit provided him with an opportunity to assess the level of efficiency, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by the workforce in delivering services to residents of the local government.

Impressed by what he witnessed, the former Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government praised the council's workforce for maintaining a high standard of discipline, dedication, and professionalism. He particularly commended the Chairman's leadership style, noting that the orderly administration and quality of service delivery reflected a government focused on meeting the needs of its people.












Speaking after the inspection, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, expressed profound appreciation to Ambassador Ishola for the visit and the encouraging words extended to the council.

He described Ambassador Ishola as one of Abeokuta North's most distinguished sons whose remarkable journey in public service continues to inspire present and future generations of leaders.

According to the Chairman, Ambassador Ishola's career, which includes serving as Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and other strategic national assignments, stands as a shining example of visionary leadership, patriotism, and selfless service.

Dr. Oyegbola-Sodipo noted that the commendation from such an accomplished statesman serves as a strong validation of his administration's efforts to build an efficient, transparent, and people-oriented local government.

He added that the recognition would further motivate his administration to sustain the momentum in delivering impactful projects, strengthening public institutions, and ensuring that residents continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to responsive governance, accountability, and improved service delivery, stressing that his administration remains focused on initiatives that will enhance the welfare of the people and accelerate the development of Abeokuta North.
