The Member representing Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, has reaffirmed her commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure across Remo Federal Constituency with the inspection of the newly completed solar mini grid project at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Iperu-Remo.
The inspection visit marked another milestone in the lawmaker's efforts to promote sustainable development and strengthen healthcare delivery through reliable infrastructure capable of supporting quality medical services.
The solar mini grid project was facilitated through the intervention of Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), led by Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, whose office provided critical support for the successful execution of the project.
The renewable energy facility is expected to significantly reduce the hospital's dependence on the national electricity grid by providing uninterrupted power supply for critical medical procedures, diagnostic services and other essential healthcare operations, thereby improving patient care and operational efficiency.
During the inspection, the delegation was received by Rev. Bola Oyeledun, who formally welcomed the federal lawmaker before introducing her team to the hospital's management.
Speaking on behalf of the management, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Oiwo Oluwakemi, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji for her steadfast commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Remo Land through impactful constituency interventions.
She disclosed that the availability of reliable electricity has already transformed the hospital's operations by enhancing service delivery, improving the working environment for healthcare personnel and ensuring uninterrupted medical care for patients.
While commending the intervention, Mrs. Oluwakemi appealed for additional support, particularly the provision of staff quarters and other critical infrastructure needed to further expand the hospital's capacity and improve staff welfare.
Providing technical updates on the project, the lead engineer informed the delegation that the solar mini grid was constructed to the highest engineering standards and comes with a minimum seven-year warranty, assuring users of its durability, efficiency and long-term reliability.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji stressed the need to ensure that all government projects are effectively utilised to maximise their benefits for the people.
She also called on distinguished sons and daughters of Remo Land to complement government efforts by investing in public institutions, especially in healthcare, education and other strategic sectors that directly impact the lives of the people.
According to the lawmaker, sustainable community development requires collective responsibility, noting that government interventions alone cannot address every developmental challenge facing local communities.
Responding on behalf of the community, Rev. Bola Oyeledun reaffirmed the readiness of community leaders and Remo indigenes to support programmes and initiatives that promote sustainable growth and grassroots development across the federal constituency.
The inspection exercise concluded with a comprehensive tour of the solar mini grid facility, during which Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji and members of her delegation assessed the infrastructure and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed and the project's positive impact on healthcare service delivery.
Residents and stakeholders described the project as a significant boost to healthcare services in Iperu-Remo, expressing optimism that the reliable power supply would enhance medical care, improve patient outcomes and strengthen the hospital's capacity to serve the growing population.
