AGO-IWOYE — Political, religious and community leaders from the Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency on Sunday converged on Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, for a large-scale Victory Prayer Assembly aimed at seeking divine support for the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, and Governor Dapo Abiodun ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gathering, convened by Prince Fatai Adesegun, drew an estimated crowd of more than 3,000 constituents and stakeholders from across the three local government areas, transforming the event into a blend of spiritual intercession, political mobilization and community empowerment.
The assembly featured interdenominational prayer sessions where clerics from both the Christian and Muslim communities offered prayers for peace, progress and stability in Ogun State and Nigeria, while also seeking divine guidance and success for the endorsed political leaders.
In a major empowerment initiative held alongside the event, beneficiaries received relief materials and financial support valued at over ₦30 million. The distribution included 350 bags of rice, 300 cartons of noodles and cash donations to individuals and groups across the constituency.
The intervention, according to organizers, was designed to provide support for residents and reinforce grassroots engagement within the constituency.
Addressing participants, Prince Adesegun described the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a reform-driven government committed to repositioning Nigeria for sustainable development and economic prosperity.
He argued that continuity in leadership would enable the administration to deepen ongoing reforms and deliver greater benefits to citizens.
According to him, “The current administration has initiated critical reforms aimed at placing Nigeria on the path of sustainable prosperity. Continuity is important to ensure that these gains are consolidated for the benefit of Nigerians.”
Speaking on the political future of Ogun State, Adesegun urged constituents to support Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola in the race for the governorship of the state, describing him as a capable leader with a proven record of public service and grassroots engagement.
He said Senator Adeola's legislative accomplishments and connection with ordinary people positioned him as a suitable candidate to steer the affairs of Ogun State.
The event attracted a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including members of the League of Imams and Alfas from the three local government areas, representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from all 32 wards within the constituency, serving councillors, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and other political leaders and community representatives.
Participants used the occasion to offer prayers for national unity, peaceful elections and continued development across Ogun State and the country.
Observers at the gathering noted that beyond its spiritual significance, the assembly also reflected early political realignments and consultations as stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
