
Armed men yesterday abducted two persons at the Idi Ayunre axis of the Ijebu Ode Road in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The latest incident came barely five days after the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, heightening fears over the worsening security situation in parts of the state.
According to reliable sources, the assailants ambushed the victims while they were travelling towards Ijebu Ode.
Witnesses said the heavily armed attackers opened fire repeatedly to scare residents, passers-by and other motorists before carrying out the operation.
An eyewitness disclosed that the gunmen, who operated in a commando-like manner, forcefully whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
It was further gathered that the abductors have yet to establish contact with the victims’ relatives, while no ransom demand has been made as of the time of filing this report.
According to Vanguard, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the attack during a telephone conversation.
