As Muslims across Nigeria and beyond prepare to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful and residents of the local government area, urging citizens to embrace the enduring values of sacrifice, compassion, peace, and national unity.
In a goodwill message released to commemorate the Islamic festival and the Children’s Day celebration, Odulate described Eid-el-Kabir as a period of deep spiritual significance that reminds believers of the virtues of obedience and selfless sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
He emphasized that beyond the festivities and celebrations associated with Sallah, the occasion presents an opportunity for individuals and communities to reflect on values capable of strengthening social harmony and fostering national development.
According to him, the lessons embedded in Eid-el-Kabir remain relevant in addressing many of the challenges confronting society today, especially at a time when the nation continues to grapple with security concerns and unfortunate incidents affecting innocent citizens.
The council chairman called on residents and Nigerians at large to offer prayers for peace and stability across the country, stressing the need for divine intervention and collective commitment toward building safer communities.
He expressed sympathy for families affected by recent incidents of insecurity and violence, praying that Almighty Allah would grant comfort and strength to those facing pain and loss.
“May Almighty Allah comfort every affected family, protect our communities, and heal our nation,” he stated.
Odulate also noted the significance of the coincidence of Eid-el-Kabir with this year’s Children’s Day celebration, describing it as a timely reminder of society’s responsibility toward the younger generation.
He stressed that children represent the future of every nation and therefore deserve an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive in peace and security.
The council chairman urged parents, leaders, and stakeholders to continue promoting moral values, unity, and collective responsibility in shaping a brighter future for children and ensuring that coming generations inherit a better society.
According to him, nurturing children in an atmosphere of love, discipline, and opportunity remains a collective duty that should not be ignored.
While encouraging residents to enjoy the festivities with family members, friends, and loved ones, Odulate also advised citizens to remain vigilant and security conscious throughout the celebration period.
He called for responsible conduct and peaceful coexistence, while encouraging members of the public to extend kindness and support to the less privileged in society.
