Nigeria is at a crossroads, and in moments like this, leadership is not measured by comfort but by courage. That is why I remain convinced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Asiwaju, remains our best bet.
We may be in pain today. The reforms are biting, the adjustment is tough, and for many families, the cost of living is a daily struggle. But let us be honest with ourselves: this is the price we must pay to break the cycle that kept us going round in circles for decades. To reject this moment is to choose to go back to square one - to return to the subsidy scam, the waste, the borrowing without results, and the false stability that mortgaged our future.
Asiwaju did not come to power to play safe. He came when the country truly needed a reformer. From day one, he has shown he is not sleeping on the job. The economic restructuring, tough as it is, is aimed at creating a foundation where investment, production, and jobs can thrive again. No nation has ever achieved prosperity by clinging to consumption and debt. The foundation being laid now is painful, but it is necessary.
Security is another area where the challenge is real and demanding. Insecurity has been a burden on this country long before this administration. It is not a problem that any single man can solve overnight, and it is certainly not one that will be solved by criticism alone. This is a collective thing we must all tackle - government, communities, traditional institutions, and citizens alike. What matters is that there is a clear determination at the top to confront it head-on and not pretend it does not exist.
We must remind ourselves why we chose this path. Nigeria needed someone with the political will to take unpopular but necessary decisions. Someone who understands the mechanics of governance, who has built structures before, and who is not afraid to upset the status quo for the sake of progress. That is Asiwaju.
Yes, the pains are real. But pains without purpose are waste. The pains we feel today are the pains of a nation being repositioned for a better tomorrow. The sacrifice is not in vain if we stay the course and hold leadership accountable to deliver on the promise.
History will not judge us by how much we complained in the storm. It will judge us by whether we had the courage to stand with a reformer when reform was needed most.
Asiwaju remains our best bet. Let us support the process, play our part, and ensure that the sacrifice of today births the Nigeria we all want tomorrow.
