Aspirants seeking elective positions under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Central have resolved to embrace the party’s primary election process following a crucial senatorial meeting held with the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, in Ogun West axis of the state yesterday.

The high-level meeting, which brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and aspirants from various constituencies, was described as part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening unity within the party ahead of the forthcoming electoral processes.

Sources at the meeting disclosed that the governor urged all aspirants and party faithful to remain committed to the ideals of internal democracy, peaceful conduct, and party supremacy as the APC prepares for its primaries across the state.

Following deliberations, the aspirants reportedly agreed to subject their ambitions to the outcome of the party primaries, pledging to work together in the collective interest of the party regardless of the eventual outcome.
Political observers noted that the resolution marks a significant step toward ensuring stability and reducing tensions among contenders within the Ogun Central political structure.

The development has now shifted attention to the various constituencies where aspirants are expected to intensify consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of the primaries. Party delegates across the affected constituencies are also being encouraged to prepare for the exercise, which many stakeholders believe will determine the strength and unity of the APC going into the general elections.

Insiders within the party revealed that aspirants have been advised to maintain healthy relationships with delegates and supporters while conducting issue-based engagements capable of strengthening the image of the APC across Ogun State.

The meeting also reportedly emphasized loyalty to the party leadership and the need to avoid actions capable of causing division among members. Stakeholders at the gathering stressed that unity remains critical for the APC to sustain its dominance in the state’s political landscape.

Speaking after the meeting, some party chieftains expressed confidence that the primary elections would be conducted transparently and peacefully, adding that the governor’s intervention has helped to calm nerves among supporters of different aspirants.

Political analysts have described the move as a strategic effort by the Ogun APC leadership to consolidate party structures ahead of the next phase of political activities. According to them, allowing aspirants to test their popularity through the primaries would strengthen democratic participation within the party and enhance acceptance of eventual candidates.

Meanwhile, supporters and delegates across Ogun Central are already gearing up for intense political engagements as consultations and lobbying continue within the constituencies.

With the primaries drawing closer, attention now remains fixed on how aspirants will relate with delegates, mobilize grassroots support, and project their visions for effective representation under the APC platform.
Party faithful have, however, been urged to maintain peace, avoid inflammatory statements, and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the exercise in the overall interest of the party and democratic development in Ogun State.
