A wave of celebration, pride, and renewed optimism swept across Isara Remo in Ogun State as His Royal Majesty, Oba Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo (OTETE III), was officially crowned the 38th Odemo of the ancient kingdom. The historic coronation ceremony, marked by the presentation of the Staff of Office, signals the beginning of a new chapter in the town’s rich traditional heritage.
Among the dignitaries who lent their voices in tribute to the new monarch was Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency. In a statement released to commemorate the occasion, she expressed profound joy and pride, describing the ascension of Oba Ogunbayo as both timely and promising.
“This historic moment marks the dawn of a new era in the leadership of Isara Kingdom,” she stated. “Kabiyesi’s emergence reflects not only his distinguished character and proven wisdom but also the deep trust and confidence the people of Isara Remo have placed in him.”
The coronation ceremony drew traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, and sons and daughters of Isara Remo from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji emphasized her confidence in the monarch’s ability to steer the kingdom toward peace, cohesion, and development. According to her, the reign of Oba Ogunbayo is expected to strengthen communal bonds while fostering socio-economic growth.
“Under his leadership, Isara Kingdom will not only preserve its rich cultural heritage but also embrace progress and prosperity for all,” she added.
She further joined the people of Isara Remo in offering prayers for a successful and impactful reign, expressing hope that Kabiyesi’s tenure would usher in lasting harmony, stability, and advancement.
The Odemo stool, one of the most revered traditional institutions in Ogun State, carries with it the responsibility of safeguarding tradition while guiding the community through modern challenges.
