REMO NORTH – In a significant move to bolster rural healthcare, Hon. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji has announced a strategic roadmap to bring the long-awaited Ijaya Maternity Centre in Akofa into full operation.
The facility, a Zonal Intervention Project (2021ZIP1875) facilitated by the late Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga (popularly known as "Ijaya"), represents a vital piece of healthcare infrastructure currently awaiting the breath of life. To ensure the vision of the late lawmaker is realized, Hon. Elegbeji is bridging the gap between legislative intent and community service.

A Blueprint for Success: The Power of Collaboration
While the project was initiated under the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the physical structure has now been officially handed over to the State Government. Recognizing that infrastructure without personnel is merely a shell, Hon. Elegbeji is set to liaise directly with the Honorable Commissioner for Health.

This collaborative approach is not new; it follows a proven "competence and continuity" model successfully applied to previous health centers in Ibelefun and Ogijo.

"Our priority is effective service delivery," the Elegbeji media team stated. "We are not just looking at buildings; we are looking at the mothers, children, and families who deserve quality care. Hon. Elegbeji is committed to working with the state to ensure this facility is staffed, funded, and fully functional."

The Call for Legislative Action

Beyond state-level cooperation, there is a growing advocacy for a legislative motion seeking a permanent partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. This move would aim to secure:

 * Sustainable Funding: Ensuring the clinic never runs out of essential supplies.

 * Professional Staffing: Bringing in specialized maternal and neonatal healthcare providers.

 * Operational Management: Aligning the center with national healthcare standards.

A United Front for Akofa

Hon. Elegbeji’s team has issued a clarion call to all critical stakeholders—including community leaders and fellow honorable members—to lend their voices to this cause. The goal is to transform the Ijaya Maternity Centre from a completed project into a bustling hub of life-saving medical activity.

By prioritizing accurate information and transparent communication, the Elegbeji administration aims to ensure that the legacy of the late Rt. Hon. Onanuga serves as a foundation for a healthier Remo North.
