The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for what he described as outstanding leadership and visible dividends of democracy, following the commissioning of the Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road and other landmark projects across the state.

Amb. Ogunsola gave the commendation during the well-attended commissioning ceremony held at the Train Station Road, Laderin Junction, within Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Abeokuta.

According to him, the impact of good governance under Governor Abiodun’s administration is evident in Obafemi Owode Local Government, particularly in the consistent execution of infrastructural development projects that have enhanced socio-economic activities in the area.

He noted that the Governor has distinguished himself in road construction and rehabilitation, adding that the newly commissioned Laderin–Wole Soyinka Train Station Road stands as another testament to the administration’s commitment to improving connectivity and boosting economic growth.

Amb. Ogunsola further listed several projects commissioned by the Governor, including the Siun-Owode/Ofada Road, Panseke–Adigbe Road, Arepo–Journalists’ Estate Road, Magboro–Makogi Road, Adesan Road in Mowe, as well as the phased reconstruction of the Interchange–Papalanto Road, with reinforced concrete already laid on the first 40-kilometre stretch.

Other notable projects highlighted include the development of a housing estate at Kobape, the establishment of a rice farm at Makogi, the construction of a Fire and Safety Station in Mowe, and the rehabilitation and construction of classrooms in public primary and secondary schools within Obafemi Owode Local Government.

The council chairman also acknowledged the Governor’s support for the local government’s own initiatives, particularly the construction of Phase 1 of the Ogidan–Geleodun Road, which he said complements ongoing state road projects.

While expressing appreciation, Amb. Ogunsola appealed to Governor Abiodun to sustain his support for the local government, describing Obafemi Owode as the business hub of Ogun State due to its strategic proximity to Lagos and Oyo States. In a light-hearted appeal likened to Oliver Twist’s request for more, he specifically sought the construction of the Orimerunmu Road linking the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with the Kobape Township Road, among other critical infrastructure needs.

He urged residents of the local government area to continue to support the Ogun State Government, stressing that Governor Abiodun remains resolute in his determination to take Ogun State to greater heights through people-oriented policies and projects.
