The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly refuted reports suggesting that Governor Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written to the party expressing interest in defecting and joining the APC.
In a statement issued by the state's APC Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party described the circulating report—allegedly originating from "Tambarin Gusau" as entirely fabricated, malicious, unfounded, and mischievous.
The APC accused the report's author of unprofessional conduct aimed at misleading the public and sowing discord within the stable and peaceful party structure.
"The party has responsible and guided channels for all official communications," Gusau stated. "We did not receive any letter from Governor Dauda Lawal, nor are we aware of any recent moves by the governor to defect from the PDP to the APC."
He urged all party members and the general public in Zamfara State to disregard the false report completely.
The publicity secretary emphasized that the APC would have no issue acknowledging such a letter if it existed, noting that any potential defector, including the governor, would need to fulfill all necessary requirements to become a legitimate member of the party.In separate developments, the Zamfara State Government announced progress on infrastructure improvements.
The final phase of the comprehensive renovation, furnishing, and equipping of the 30-year-old JB Yakubu Secretariat Complex is nearing completion, with handover expected in February 2026.Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, recently inspected Block C of the complex and expressed satisfaction with the work carried out by contractor Sources Plus Nigeria Limited.
The renovation of this block is now 100% complete structurally, with only furniture installation remaining in the coming weeks.
The SSG directed the contractor to address minor observations to maintain high standards.Governor Dauda Lawal's administration has already commissioned the earlier phases (Blocks A and B), which are fully operational and equipped with modern features such as solar power and Wi-Fi to boost efficiency and service delivery to citizens.
The long-neglected secretariat, which houses numerous Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, had not undergone major upgrades until this initiative.
