Elepete, Ogun State — Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji has reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development during the Second Edition of the Elepete Youth and Sports Development Skills Acquisition Graduation Ceremony, a landmark programme aimed at equipping young people with practical, employable skills.
Although unavoidably absent, the federal lawmaker was ably represented by Hon. Sunday Olalekan Oyesanya, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, who delivered her goodwill message to a gathering of dignitaries, community leaders, trainers, and graduating beneficiaries.
In a short but impactful lecture, Oyesanya highlighted the critical role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future. He urged the graduands and other youths in attendance to register for and maintain active voter’s cards, stressing that true political inclusion begins with participation in the electoral process.
“Young people must not only be skilled in trades, they must also be active in governance. Your voter’s card is your power to choose leaders and influence the direction of your communities and country,” he stated.
The ceremony was graced by the royal presence of HRH Oba Taiwo Adebunmi Bamgbose, the Onimushin of Imushin-Remo, whose attendance added cultural dignity and prestige to the occasion.
Several distinguished personalities delivered goodwill messages and motivational addresses to the graduands, encouraging them to maximize the opportunities the programme had given them. These included Asiwaju Lekan Saheed Ọlọkọ, Rt. Hon. Adesina Munirat Ayomikun, Comrade Adebayo (Sagamu Local Government NYCN Coordinator, representing the Ogun State NYCN Chairman, Oloye Shoremi), Hon. Babatunde Emmanuel, Leader of the House in Sagamu Local Government and Councillor for Ward 10, and Comrade Ayanbanjo Deji.
The speakers consistently challenged the graduates to approach their newfound skills with discipline, creativity, focus, and a strong sense of responsibility, reminding them that skill acquisition is a pathway to self-reliance and community development.
In her message, Hon. Dr. Ayoola-Elegbeji commended Elepete Youth and Sports Development for successfully sustaining the initiative into its second edition, describing the programme as a strategic investment in the future of the community.
She noted that consistent, grassroots-focused empowerment programmes remain one of the most effective tools for reducing unemployment, strengthening local economies, and building a more prosperous Remo land, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large.
“The future of our nation depends on how well we prepare our youth today. I remain committed to supporting initiatives that equip our young people with practical skills and open doors to greater opportunities across Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency,” she said.
The graduation ceremony marked another milestone in Elepete’s efforts to build a generation of skilled, confident, and economically productive youths, reinforcing the growing partnership between community-based organisations and public office holders in driving sustainable development at the grassroots.
