The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has approved the immediate payment of Christmas and end-of-year bonuses to all employees of the council across all cadres and grade levels, in recognition of their dedication and commitment to duty.
The approval was granted during a management meeting held on December 22 at the Chairman’s office in Owode-Egba, as part of activities marking the Yuletide season.
Speaking at the meeting, Amb. Ogunsola described the festive period as a time for gratitude, celebration and reflection on the positive contributions that have driven the success of organisations despite prevailing challenges. He commended members of staff and the management team for their cooperation and unwavering dedication throughout the past year, particularly during the last year of his second term in office.
According to him, the achievements recorded by the local government within the year would not have been possible without the collective efforts and sacrifices of the workforce. He assured staff of his administration’s continued commitment to prioritising their welfare and sustaining policies that promote motivation and productivity.
The council chairman further urged staff to remain dedicated to their duties and to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities in moderation. He wished all employees a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
In a related development, Amb. Ogunsola extended Christmas welfare packages to political loyalists across the twelve wards of the local government area, distributing foodstuffs and other gift items as part of efforts to share the joy of the season.
Reacting to the development, the Branch Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Obafemi Owode Local Government, Comrade Oluwaseyi Victor Kabir, expressed appreciation to the council boss for what he described as a workers-friendly gesture.
Comrade Kabir noted that Amb. Ogunsola was the first among chairmen of the 20 local governments in Ogun State to approve and release the 2025 Christmas and end-of-year bonuses, a move he said further confirmed his reputation as a pro-labour and compassionate leader.
He added that the chairman’s consistency in being the first to pay such bonuses in Ogun State had earned him widespread respect and trust among workers, describing him as a pathfinder and one of the most articulate council chairmen in the state’s history.
The NULGE chairman prayed for divine guidance and continued success for Amb. Ogunsola, noting that his leadership had consistently put smiles on the faces of workers.
