The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has called on residents of the council area to embrace unity, renewed hope and continuity as key pillars for sustainable development in the New Year 2026.
Ogunsola made the call in his New Year message to the people of Obafemi Owode, describing the new year as a fresh dawn filled with opportunities for growth, prosperity and collective progress.
As the outgoing year draws to a close, the council chairman reflected on its challenges and achievements, stressing the need to sustain the successes recorded while working harder to overcome lingering difficulties.
“As we bid farewell to the old year, its challenges and the sustainability of the successes recorded therein, and welcome a new dawn, I extend my warmest wishes to individuals, families and the good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government,” he said.
The chairman expressed optimism that 2026 would usher in renewed hope, abundance and development across the local government area, urging residents to strengthen bonds of unity, love and cooperation to achieve progress that surpasses that of the previous year.
Ogunsola particularly addressed the youths, encouraging them to dream big, work diligently and believe in their abilities, while steering clear of social vices and illicit behaviour that could hinder their future.
“To our youths, I say: dream big, work hard, believe in yourself and please avoid illicit behaviour,” he advised.
He also paid tribute to elders in the community, acknowledging their wisdom and guidance as invaluable assets that would continue to shape governance and social harmony in the local government.
“To our elders, your wisdom and guidance remain our watchword,” he added.
Calling on all residents to remain committed to peace and togetherness, the council boss reiterated his administration’s resolve to promote a united and prosperous Obafemi Owode.
He concluded by praying for joy, good health and the fulfillment of aspirations for all residents in the new year, congratulating them on witnessing the beginning of 2026.
“May this New Year bring you joy, good health and fulfillment of our aspirations. I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year 2026,” the statement read.
