The Operation Zenda Joint Task Force (JTF) eliminated a notorious armed robbery suspect, Saater, in a shootout in Makurdi, Benue State’s capital, on October 18 at approximately 8:00 p.m.
Acting on reliable intelligence, JTF operatives tracked Saater to a hotel in the Owner Occupiers area of Makurdi.
The suspect, a known kidnapper, assassin, and armed robber from Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, was linked to multiple high-profile murders, including those of a local hunters’ commander, his wife, the NURTW Chairman, and a traditional ruler.
When confronted, Saater opened fire on the JTF team, leading to a fierce gun battle. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Benue State University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body remains in the hospital’s mortuary.The operation yielded a locally made short gun, two cartridges, various criminal charms, and seven SIM cards from different networks, all recovered from the suspect.
