Non existence group calling themselves "igbimo majekobaje ile Yoruba" has come under sharp scrutiny after allegedly making critical statements against President Bola Tinubu.
The group's existence and legitimacy have been vociferously challenged by the Oduduwa Integrity Association, which claims the group is neither a lawful nor a registered organization.
In a strongly worded statement, the Oduduwa Integrity Association dismissed the group, asserting that "Igbimo Majekobaje Ile Yoruba" is composed of "just two people" and is unknown to established Yoruba organizations like Afenifere and the Oduduwa Integrity Association itself.
"Any association after these two major, respected organizations is not welcome, neither respected in Yoruba Land," the statement declared.
Queries Over Presidential Criticism
The core of the controversy appears to be the group's reported criticism of the Nigerian president. The Oduduwa Integrity Association condemned the alleged actions, stating: "Which Igbimo Majekobaje? You are spoiling Yoruba Land you are calling yourself nickname, abusing the president of Nigeria? It seems you don't understand what president is?"
The Association further described the critics' public comments as a "statement [that] sounds rather baffled and paradoxical, receiving stress, that gave birth to thoughtless frustrations."
Emphasis on Recognized Leadership
The Oduduwa Integrity Association maintained that all genuinely registered and recognized Yoruba socio-political bodies are currently unified under the leadership of Pa Reuben Fashoranti. These recognized associations are said to be "working together to uplift, quide, mashal, Yoruba integrity."
The group then tied the alleged abuse of President Tinubu directly to the honor of the Yoruba people, arguing that "Abusing President Tinubu is tangential to gradient insult of ODUDUwa integrity." It urged the dissenting group to "show every son and daughters of Oduduwa, that you have integrity."
In a final, definitive push to delegitimize the critics, the statement concluded by asserting that, regardless of the constitutional freedom of association, "Any association outside Afenifere and Oduduwa Integrity Association is not recognized in Yoruba land."
