The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially ratified the appointment of Barrister Sadiq Dasin as the Interim Chairman of its Adamawa State chapter, putting to rest days of confusion and rival claims over the party’s leadership structure.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the National Working Committee (NWC) affirmed that the October 25 leadership exercise in Adamawa — supervised by the National Vice Chairman (North-East) — was duly authorized and in line with the party’s constitution.
“After due investigations, the party considers the process of October 25 to be in full compliance with NWC guidelines and prior approvals,” the statement read.
The decision follows weeks of internal wrangling within the Adamawa ADC, where two factions had laid claim to the leadership position.
Reiterating the NWC’s earlier directive of October 8, which established Interim Executive Committees to stabilize state chapters facing leadership disputes, the party urged members to put personal differences aside and work together for unity.
“We appeal to all members to embrace peace, rethink their positions, and follow the path of reconciliation,” the statement continued. “Barrister Dasin is advised to extend the hand of fellowship to all aggrieved members and address genuine concerns.”
The ADC leadership also warned against acts of indiscipline and factionalism, stressing that internal democracy and collective responsibility remain the foundation of the party’s progress.
“We will not tolerate actions that weaken the party’s structure or distract from its mission to provide credible leadership alternatives across the country,” the statement added.
Political observers say the move signals the party’s determination to resolve internal disputes and strengthen its base in the North-East ahead of upcoming elections.
