In a significant move aimed at enhancing access to justice and healthcare for residents of Ogun State, the Olofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaiman Bamgbade, Ayodele III, officially handed over a newly constructed High Court and a 20-bed Primary Healthcare Centre to the Ogun State Government on Friday. This initiative is a testament to the monarch’s commitment to improving the quality of life for his people.
The ceremony took place in Isheri and was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Ogun State First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu; and several members of the state and federal legislature. The occasion also marked the celebration of Oba Bamgbade's fourth coronation anniversary, further underscoring the significance of these contributions to community development.
In his address, Oba Bamgbade noted that the projects, entirely funded by him, were designed to alleviate the challenges associated with accessing judicial and healthcare services. Previously, residents in need of court services had to travel long distances to locations such as Itori and Ifo. The establishment of the High Court in Isheri aims to bring justice closer to the community, thereby strengthening the legal framework available to the populace.
“Justice and healthcare are the twin pillars of a thriving society. By handing over the Isheri High Court to the Ogun State Judiciary, we are strengthening access to justice for our people,” Oba Bamgbade remarked. His vision for the healthcare centre mirrors this dedication, as it was created to cater specifically to the medical needs of women, children, and the elderly.
The Renewed Hope Primary Healthcare Centre is expected to significantly improve local healthcare delivery, thus reducing the need for community members to travel outside Isheri for medical care. “With this facility, we are prioritizing the health and well-being of our people, because only a healthy community can truly prosper,” he stated, emphasizing that the new centre would reduce avoidable deaths and ease the burden on tertiary hospitals.
The event also saw Oba Bamgbade make an impassioned appeal to both the Lagos and Ogun State Governments, as well as the Federal Government, to support initiatives aimed at preserving Awori heritage and identity. He expressed his desire to transform Isheri Olofin into a cultural tourism hub that fosters economic empowerment for its residents.
