In a heartwarming display of community support, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez, the Special Assistant on Student Matters to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, recently donated writing materials and school uniforms to pupils of Ijumo Ologboni Community Primary School and African Church Nursery and Primary School in Owowo, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
During a visit to the primary schools, Azeez expressed his commitment to assisting indigent students in rural communities, noting the importance of education in shaping the future of the youth. “I was on a visitation to some primary schools to donate pairs of school uniforms to indigent students in the most rural communities of Ogun State,” he said. His initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by families, making education more accessible to all children.
The donation event was marked by joy and gratitude from both students and school officials. Among the recipients of Azeez’s benevolence was Kehinde Sodiya, a student who suffered injuries from an accident on July 19. Azeez made a personal visit to offer cash for Sodiya’s medical treatment, illustrating his dedication to community welfare. “This gesture is my own little way of giving back to society,” he added, reflecting his belief in the power of collective support.
Azeez highlighted the significant efforts of Governor Abiodun’s administration to transform education in Ogun State. “The Government of Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun - MFR is committed to changing the fortunes of education in the state for good,” he stated. He detailed the government's ambitious plan to rehabilitate approximately 956 schools across the state, along with the cancellation of various levies in public primary and secondary schools, reinforcing their commitment to a free education policy. Additionally, the government has been consistently releasing funds on a monthly basis to support the running costs of head teachers and principals across the region.
Community leaders expressed appreciation for Azeez’s efforts. Responding on behalf of the Ijumo Ologboni community, Mr. Kayode Alani urged other well-meaning Nigerians to follow suit, emphasizing that such acts will inspire more parents to enroll their children in schools.
Mr. Saka Kamorudeen Oyeleke, the Head Teacher of African Church Nursery and Primary School, commended the Abiodun-led administration for its strides in the education sector. He noted that initiatives like Azeez's donations could significantly increase student enrollment, providing both financial and moral encouragement to parents.
As the event concluded, the atmosphere was filled with hope and optimism, reflecting a shared commitment to improving educational outcomes for children in Ogun State. Azeez’s gesture may serve as a catalyst for others in the community to contribute toward enhancing educational opportunities, ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.
