In a remarkable celebration of unity and reflection, Team 236, comprised of former councillors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, gathered on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to mark the significant milestone of ten years since their tenure concluded in 2015 The event, which took place at the beautifully decorated Akinrogun Hall, was filled with a mix of nostalgia and enthusiasm, as esteemed guests, former colleagues, and political aficionados came together to honor their shared journey.
The Chairman of Team 236, Hon. Lekan Adejare, delivered a stirring address that resonated with the attendees. He expressed heartfelt gratitude towards their fallen comrades, emphasizing the indelible impact they had on their communities. “As we take this moment to reflect, let us pay tribute to those who contributed to our successes, their legacies inspire us to keep pushing forward,” Adejare said, initiating a moment of silence to honor their memory.
In his address, Adejare also highlighted the accomplishments made over the past decade, urging Team 236 members to remain dedicated to their mission. “The efforts of each member in fostering growth across the 236 wards and 5004 polling units of Ogun State will not go unnoticed. We have created connections and lasting impacts that resonate throughout our state,” he affirmed.
Hon. Adejare expressed gratitude for the guidance of seasoned political leaders, notably Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun. “Your wisdom has paved our paths and empowered us to strive for excellence,” he noted, paying homage to the mentors who shaped their journey.
Looking towards the future, Adejare emphasized the critical responsibility on Team 236’s shoulders as they prepare for the upcoming 2027 general elections. “Our mission is far from over; we must remain determined in our efforts to advance our shared vision for a better Nigeria,” he implored, rallying the members to build on the momentum of the past decade.
Supporting this call for unity, Hon. Yusuf Soyemi, Secretary of Team 236, passionately called for collaboration among ex-councillors. “Unity will amplify the strength of the APC. As we head towards the elections, we must persevere together,” Soyemi stated. His vision involved appointing district chairmen and local government leaders to ensure equitable representation across the state.
Hon. Waheed Mulero, Treasurer of Team 236, further emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the party’s strategy. “We have thoughtfully zoned positions across the state to ensure every region benefits from our collaborative efforts,” he reaffirmed, underscoring the team’s dedication to fairness and harmony moving forward.
As the gathering concluded, members of Team 236 departed with a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity. Hon. Adejare encapsulated the spirit of the occasion, “As we mark our ten years since holding office as councillors, let us carry forward the torch of progress, guided by faith and a relentless pursuit of excellence.”
