President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida, son of the late former military leader Ibrahim Babangida, as the head of the newly restructured Bank of Agriculture.
The announcement, made on July 18, 2025, is part of a broader set of appointments aimed at strengthening key federal agencies and advancing Nigeria’s economic and developmental goals.
In addition to Babangida’s appointment, President Tinubu named seven other individuals to lead or serve in critical roles across various federal agencies.

Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna State) as Chairman of the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), tasked with overseeing Nigeria’s oil and gas export zones.
Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano State) as Chairman of the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), responsible for shaping educational policy and curriculum development.
Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano State) as Chairman of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), charged with ensuring product quality and standardization.
Sanusi Musa (SAN) (Kano State) as Chairman of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), focused on promoting peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State) as Director-General of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), enhancing Nigeria’s technical cooperation with African nations.
Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara State) as Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN), driving Nigeria’s trade policy and international negotiations.
Mrs. Tomi Somefun (Oyo State) as Managing Director of the National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), advancing hydropower and regional development.
Dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria (Kaduna State) as Executive Director of the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC), overseeing water resource management.
The appointments reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to leveraging experienced leadership to drive sectoral reforms and national development.
The Presidency stated that the new appointees are expected to bring expertise and innovation to their respective roles, aligning with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
