Abeokuta, Ogun State – In a significant gesture aimed at bolstering collaboration and support within the labor movement, the Ogun State Council of the RADIO TELEVISION THEATRE AND ARTS WORKERS UNION RATTAWU), led by Chairman Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro Oluwagbenga Elijah Alayemi , paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at their Secretariat in Leme, Abeokuta.
During the visit, Comrade Fagbenro expressed heartfelt gratitude to Comrade Ademola Benco, the Ogun NLC Chairman, acknowledging the unwavering support that the NLC has extended to RATTAWU over the years. He emphasized the importance of solidarity and reaffirmed RATTAWU's loyalty to its mother body, signaling a united front for the interests of the labor force.
In his response, Comrade Benco welcomed the RATTAWU delegation warmly, commending the visit as a "move for a New Beginning" for both organizations. He articulated the need for innovative thinking within RATTAWU’s leadership to better serve the interests of its members and improve the overall welfare of workers in Ogun State.
A highlight of the visit was Benco’s commitment to support RATTAWU by pledging to provide two dozen plastic chairs to enhance the working environment of their Secretariat. This gesture was warmly received and is expected to aid in better accommodating members during meetings and activities.
Further emphasizing the spirit of camaraderie, Comrade Benco took the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of former RATTAWU leader, Comrade Adewole Bamgbose, who recently marked his 50th birthday. As a token of appreciation for his years of service and dedication to the union, a portrait was presented to Comrade Bamgbose, symbolizing respect and recognition from the current leadership.
The cordial visit fostered a renewed sense of partnership between RATTAWU and the NLC, with both parties committing to work hand in hand for the betterment of the labor community in Ogun State and beyond.
The event concluded with a resounding expression of unity: “Long Live Ogun State RATTAWU!! Long Live Nigeria Labour Congress!!!”
