Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu commissioned Nigeria’s first local government-owned radio station, Ishokan 106.7 FM, operated by Mushin Local Government Area, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The launch, conducted by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on behalf of Sanwo-Olu, took place at Oliyide Street, Mushin, alongside other legacy projects spearheaded by Mushin LGA Chairman Hon. Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye.

The governor praised the initiative as a groundbreaking effort in information dissemination, describing it as “laudable and worthy of emulation” by other local government areas.

The station aims to enhance communication with residents, aligning with the state’s THEMES+ Agenda.

Other projects commissioned included roads, a market, and a consolidated federal agency hub, reflecting Mushin LGA’s commitment to infrastructure development.

APC State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi highlighted Mushin’s significant electoral influence, noting its 547 polling units—the highest in Lagos State—and urged residents to register for voter cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bamigboye encouraged the community to utilize the new facilities, emphasizing sustainable growth, while incoming Chairman Hon.Tunbosun Aruwe stressed the importance of maintaining these assets.

Ishokan 106.7 FM marks a historic milestone in local governance and community engagement in Nigeria.
