President Bola Tinubu has warned police officers against using their power to intimidate or abuse citizens, urging them to uphold the rule of law and act with professionalism.

Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the 2nd Annual IGP’s Award Ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that police authority must be used for protection, not oppression.

“Reject misconduct and corruption. Protect citizens’ rights. Only then will the police earn public trust,” he stated.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the police with modern equipment, training, and improved welfare to boost efficiency and morale.

Congratulating award recipients, he urged them to remain exemplary and inspire a culture of integrity across the force.
