A man identified as Emmanuel Sunday, a contract staff member of a construction company, has been apprehended for allegedly stealing iron rods from the pedestrian slabs of the newly built Ebu Bridge on the Ughelli-Asaba Road.
Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Ejiro, caught Sunday in the act of vandalizing and removing the iron rods.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sunday, a carpenter, is from Ikot-Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
During questioning, Sunday confessed to the crime. The commissioner has handed him over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
