Gov Makinde to Coronate New Eleruwa of Eruwa

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will on Saturday, June 28, 2025, officially coronate Prince Adebayo Adegbola as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, announced this on Monday, adding that the event has been confirmed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo.

Oyelade described the upcoming coronation as a reaffirmation of Eruwa’s rich cultural heritage and a symbol of unity among the people.

“Beyond its ceremonial significance, the coronation symbolises the collective commitment of the community to honouring its historical roots and traditions,” he said.

He urged residents, stakeholders, and traditional institutions to actively participate in the ceremony, noting that the event would further strengthen communal bonds and usher Eruwa into an era of growth and prosperity.

The Nation recalls that Governor Makinde had approved the appointment of Prince Adegbola as Eleruwa of Eruwa in March 2025, following the legal resolution of a protracted dispute over the stool.

The position became vacant after the Supreme Court deposed the former monarch, Oba Adegbola, in November 2019. The High Court of Oyo State later dismissed a suit challenging the appointment on October 22, 2024, paving the way for the installation of a new king.
