Ukanafun Professionals Association has lauded governor Umo Eno for mobilizing contractors to a 17 year old hospital site in the Local Government Area, calling him an exceptional leader.
The group, UK-PRO, made the commendation through a birthday message to the governor signed by its Publicity Secretary, Twoweeks Umoh and made available to Newsmen in Uyo.
“The governor’s down-to-earthiness and commitment as exemplified through personal inspection, interfacing with the contractor of the project, which culminated in the amicable resolution of the contractual dispute, is exemplary of a leader who is desirous of making a difference of distinction in governance.
“Given that Ukanafun Local Government Area has been unjustly treated in allocation of the state government’s project, Governor Umo Eno’s elevation of the proposed hospital from cottage to General Hospital is not only a deserving gesture but one that will ever remain a mark of a leader who places justice as integral component of government.” The statement read in part.
The statement observed that it’s only Ukanafun that has no Secondary Health Facility among the pioneer 10 Local Government Areas when Akwa Ibom State was created.
The group described Dr Ekem John, the Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Health as “a go-getter with unblinking sight to make the Akwa Ibom state governor’s vision of excellent healthcare delivery to come to fruition,” and called on him to keep maintaining the same tract with the governor.
UK- PRO urged governor Eno to accede to a proposal made by Global Corp, the contracting firm for the project, for enhanced status of the proposed General hospital.
Some additional sections to complement the upgraded status of the facility include staff quarters, mortuary, internal roads, electrification and construction of site for power plants, construction of roundabout and spur to link with the Aba-Ukanafun-Ekparakwa road.
