In a strategic meeting with Ondo State traditional rulers, Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged monarchs to help eradicate female genital mutilation and combat diseases like Hepatitis B that affect women. The First Lady emphasized the need for community leadership in addressing health issues such as mother-to-child HIV transmission.
“Female genital mutilation is a harmful and outdated tradition built on myths. It destroys the lives of young girls,” she declared.
She also launched the South-West leg of the Renewed Hope Initiative, which includes distributing 10,000 professional kits to healthcare workers and initiating a menstrual hygiene campaign to supply sanitary pads to young girls, focusing on rural areas.
Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, speaking through the Deji of Akure, lauded the First Lady’s programs and assured the traditional institution’s prayers and support for President Tinubu’s administration.
