In a significant move to quell rising tensions and foster harmony, the Ogun State Peacebuilding Committee, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Ethnic Affairs, Hon. Hadi Sani, has successfully mediated a conflict between the Adekoyeni host community, local farmers, and members of the herders’ community.
The intervention followed reports of growing disagreement within the community, which posed a threat to peaceful coexistence and security in the area.
Recognizing the need for timely action, the committee convened a peace meeting at Adekoyeni, Atan, bringing together key stakeholders for dialogue and resolution.
Hadi Sani emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts at the community level before they escalate.
“Major conflicts often begin with minor disagreements. By addressing these early and ensuring adherence to the laws of the land, we can maintain peace and unity among all groups,” he stated.
The peace meeting led to the resolution of major complaints and the establishment of a renewed commitment to mutual respect and lawful conduct among the parties involved.
Hadi commended the Baale of Adekoyeni, High Chief Tajudeen Adisa, whose proactive leadership and collaboration with the appropriate authorities played a vital role in restoring peace.
The SSA stressed that the peace and security of the community is a collective responsibility, urging all parties to continue working together in harmony.
