.... Laments Union's Neglects

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council congratulates the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2023 presidential election, and his eventual declaration as President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to Wale Olanrewaju
Chairman, Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalist, Ogun state council, The Union also felicitates with His Excellency, on the landmark victory of all candidates under the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National Assembly elections.

The Union believes that the election is continued demonstration of democracy’s relevance and capability in delivering the mass of the people it serves and a proof that the country is one indivisible nation, adding that Tinubu's election is clear indication of people's will to rotate power between the Northern and the Southern parts of the country.

The Union commends the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the security agencies and all stakeholders on the peaceful, free and fair election, saying that despite the challenges faced all personnel involved conducted themselves in a professional manner allowing the will of the people triumph at the end.

The Union however laments the Ogun State government neglect of journalists under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), stressing that the relationship between media and government has a profound impact on the information to which the public has access.

As members of the forth estate of the realm and critical stakeholders in the Building of Our Future Together (BOFT) mantra of the present administration, policies affecting media should be paramount as it is clear that without a strong relationship between the government and media, public dialogue, social inclusion, and political participation are all impacted.
