Four persons lost their lives when a Toyota Sienna ran into a moving Sino truck from the rear while in motion.

The accident reportedly occurred along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Road around 7.18pm on Thursday.

According to traffic report from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps the accident occurred at Adedero in front of Adaranijo Filling Station along the route.

The Public Relations Officer, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the incident said the vehicles were travelling inbound Abeokuta.

He explained that the Sino truck with the number plate WDL418XA loaded with cement was emitting smoke and had no visible rear lights which blurred the vision of the Sienna driver, who was speeding, making him to ram the car into it unexpectedly.

All the victims, he said were occupants of the Toyota Sienna which bore number plate AAA307GN.

He was one of the passengers who did not die immediately after the accident was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta where he gave up the ghost.

He said, “Learnt the Toyota Sienna was inbound Abeokuta, and the driver was driving behind the truck, which belongs to a cement manufacturing company when it ran into the truck from behind, due to speed and the inability of the driver to ascertain the fact that a vehicle was in his front, coupled with the smoke emitting from the truck, which also had no rear light.”

He said all the victims were males. Akinbiyi said further that the remains of the victims have been deposited in the morgue at State Hospital, Ijaiye at Abeokuta.

While theTRACE commiserates with the  families of the victims, it warned drivers of articulated vehicles to make safety their watch -word by servicing their vehicles, as and when due,  and also ensure their lighting is working well.

Moreover, it urged drivers generally  to avoid speeding and desist from night travels, in view of its attendant consequences.
