A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Rotimi Makinde has strongly advised his supporters to put on hold every campaign activities to usher him back to the Federal Parliament, just as he directed them to face the major task ahead which is the gubernatorial election slated for July 16, 2022.

This is coming days after the Ife-born politician declared his interest to recontest for the Ife Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly (NASS) in 2023.

Makinde, an astute politician and a key member of SWAGA '23 was a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Ife Federal Constituency in the 7th Assembly, between 2011-2015, with many life impacting socio-economic empowerment programs to his constituents, high profile Bills, Motions, Oversight functions, and other numerous quality representations to his credit within the period in view. 

Hon. Makinde who appreciated the show of love and overwhelming support his declaration has amazingly attracted from all quarters sincerely appealed to his followers to divert their energies to the coming gubernatorial election in the state in the interest of incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

"We have a major but simple task ahead which is the reelection of Governor Gboyega Oyetola. We must work together to sustain the legacy of the progressives in our state. We must therefore join our success-driven Governor in his journey and passion to take Osun State to greater heights by giving him all the needed support to win this coming election".

"Every progressive must be deeply concerned about the future of our state. As at now, the reelection of Governor Oyetola is very germane and all associated interests should be given less attention. All my lovers should please concentrate on the election of our principal, Governor Oyetola and this is beyond career. The fact is that, I will offer myself to seek reelection for the office of Member of  House of Representatives." Makinde stated.

Makinde further stressed that, "the first target has been achieved which is the declaration and we believe the people and concerned stakeholders across board have heard us loudly and clearly. The onus is now on us to give our party not just me or our Governor or any other party faithful vying for any elective position, a landslide victory in the forthcoming poll and our loyalty must never be compromised." The former parliamentarian said
