MAJEKODUNMI INSPECTS PRIMARY SCHOOLS, OBSERVES THE EFFECT OF HOME GROWN MEAL PROGRAM




The Executive Chairman Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi JP, today, Friday 10th December, 2021 paid unscheduled inspection to some of the Primary Schools within the Local Government Area in a bid to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFR) created by the Federal Government of Nigeria in Twenty Two States (22) of the Federation for public primary school pupils 

According to the press statement signed by SODEINDE KOLAWOLE, INFORMATION OFFICER ABEOKUTA SOUTH LG, The Programme created is to encourage an increase in the enrollment rate of pupils, improve the nutritional health status of primary school pupils as well as to provide empowerment opportunities for women in the country.

The Executive Chairman of the Council during the inspection tour was informed that the vendor at  Our Lady of Apostles Primary School at Oke-Ilewo, Ibara Abeokuta had not come in at all for the day.

At the Rev Kuti Primary School Isabo, Abeokuta, the food vendor had not come in since Monday, only to show up today, Friday with incomplete meal. The pupils were only served boiled eggs instead of bread and eggs. Hon. Majekodunmi expressed his displeasure at the situation he found on ground.

He appealed to the teachers in charge of the programme to always check and make sure that meals served are healthy and timely.

He also charged the food vendors to ensure strict adherence to the established instructions of the Home Grown meal Programme thereby make it a good success.
