The former Governor of Abia and senator representing Abia Central Senator TA Orji was released around 10 oclock on Friday, 20th of August 2021. The senator was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja on his way to Owerri.
The Senator who has been sick for a while was said to have developed complications why on detention at the Jabi headquarters of EFCC. The Doctors at the EFCC advised that the senator be released for proper medical attention while he is expected back by next week thursday at the EFCC headquarters Jabi in continuation of his investigation.
The son Rt .Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji who is the current Speaker was detained on 19th but released on bail yesterday evening being 20th after spending a night at the EFCC headquarters Jabi. The bail condition of N200m bail bond ( Two hundred million) was signed by Senator Smart Adeyemi, senator representing Kogi West.
The Speaker is expected back at EFCC headquarters by monday next week for continuation of the investigation.
It will be recalled that the TA Orji family has been under investigation by EFCC since 2019 based on petition by an NGO alleging misappropriation of N551B while as governor between 2007 and 2015.
Many are worried as EFCC has not gone beyond the media noise of this investigation as they have been on this investigation since 2019 without taking them to court.
