The Transition Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon Ayodeji Michael Shomide said his administration has empowered fifty-adire merchants in Abeokuta South Local government.

Shomide disclosed this while addressing the members of the local government at the ongoing 10th Gateway International Trade Fair organized by Ogun State Chambers of Commerce and Industry (OGUNCIMA) in collaboration with the Ogun State Government held at MKO Abiola International Trade Fair laderin Abeokuta Ogun State Capital.

The chairman noted that the Adire traders were given soft loans to produce the fabrics in several quantities and we're bought in bulk by off-takers. 














"Our unemployed youth are being engaged in the agricultural program, through Anchor Borrowers' program. The psychics of our youth are being redirected from searching for white-collar jobs not readily available. They are to be provided with improved seedlings for better yield at the end of the year."  Shomide said.

The LG boss said, part of his contribution to promote the virtue of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, intend to replicate the good gesture of the State Government by offering a similar veritable platform for Small and Medium Enterprises in the Local Government Area to launch their products and services to the world on our website.

Shomide added that the global acceptance of Adire is unrivaled, as more customers are being attracted from all over the world. 

"Lots of techniques are being deployed in the production processes to give the fabric a more attractive look and everlasting use. 
"Being part of the initiative of the Administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, the state gave more impetus for the product through the launch of the Ogun Adire digital Market place, where potential sellers and buyers can meet to finalize their transactions. 
"The initiative has opened a global platform for marketing and distribution of the indigenous fabrics as well open up its value chain to all and sundry. 
"Through the platform, easy transactions are facilitated, employment opportunities are created, cultural heritage promoted, as well as the image of the home capital of Adire, Abeokuta South Local Government" he
affairmed.
