The security of life and properties have been the major challenges in Lagos state, even in Nigeria.  Consequently, the security has become  everybody's business . This has necessitated  a community security which serves as a neighborhood watch.

As the community ensures all is safe, there are continuous and deliberate saboteurs by unscrupulous people benefiting from this  insecurity. This they do frustrating the efforts of the security personnel in order to penetrate their evil acts.

With this, it is noteworthy that, the deplorable state of roads and lingering traffic gridlock in Oshodi/Apapa expressway and Lagos/Badagry highway experience by motorists and commuters daily have been spotted for the high rate of robbery, traffic robberies, snatching of phones and pick- pocketing  during the traffic.

On this development in the area of Mile 2 axis, community-based security was drafted out to ensure safety around the community and among the  road users. This will enhance safety  and freedom from any form of criminalities as people go by their normal business activities.

In Mile 2 of today, the efforts of community service can't be undermined as they always collaborate with the  state government in nabbing over twenty-two (22) armed robbers. Many of which had be handed over to the  Nigeria Police. During ,the #ENDSARS protest,  all state properties and private-owned companies were  securely protected for two (2) weeks while they single handedly managed the  gridlock on Apapa and Mile 2 roads. They equally carry out  situation report daily for commuters to know the situation reports.

But quite unfortunate, with all these efforts, some elements frustrating the effort of community security with the rate of incidents of crime reported on this axis. Of recent, an incident happened when some alleged traffic robbers snatched phones, robbed commuters and road users in a traffic jam only community alleged chased them away and these same people.

I think it is high time, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Mr, Hakeem Odumosu complement  the efforts  of community security. The community has been working tirelessly and supporting the government in area of security, traffic, and community development than to play in the hands of the saboteurs that are benefiting from criminality.
