Yesterday, Monday, 31st August, The Chairman, Tricycle Owners And Riders (TORAN) Abdul-Wasi Agunbiade (Yayi Agbara), on Sweet FM, 107.1, Abeokuta stated that Union Affairs in the State have changed from what its used to be as they are now been handled by Elites.
Yayi Agbara who was on "Ayekooto", a phone-in program disclosed that TORAN was created for a particular purpose which reflects in her slogan; *Empowerment To Eradicate Poverty*".
The chairman, while responding to a caller from Yewa on the program about reckless driving of some of the riders revealed that his Excos led team is already working on arranging a seminar in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) for riders on how to ply the roads and obey all traffic laws.
He further stated that he has instructed all riders under his association to ensure they have valid riders license from FRSC as this will help to checkmate and reduce to barest minimum the level of untrained and unprofessional riders.
"We are already working on something with the FRSC for all our riders....this will come up in due time" Yayi Agbara stated.
The chairman revealed the intention of the Ministry of Transports to create a database for transporters across the State soon.
Meanwhile, prior to the ministry's laudable initiatives, Yayi Agbara said his association has already begun the process of data collection within members of TORAN in all branches across the State. Noting that taking necessary steps on safety is important to all stakeholders.
The Chairman was in company of Comr. Mathew Sopade (State Secretary, Comr. Olasupo Muhideen (Assistant State Secretary) and some other State Executives for the radio program.
