As part of efforts aimed at reducing unemployment, Ogun State Government says it would absorb interested N-power beneficiaries into its agricultural programmes.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina made this disclosure while addressing representatives of N-power beneficiaries in the state, who were on a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, noting that the current administration was ready to create employment opportunities for women, farmers and the youths in the State.
Odedina said government was putting up measures to make the State the food basket of the country, as well as providing an enabling environment for factories and agro-allied industries to thrive, so as to reduce joblessness, as well as boost the state’s economy.
He explained that the State had the highest concentration of industries searching for supplies in poultry, cassava and aquaculture products, saying people in other N-power programmes such as N-teach, N-tech and others should maximally harness the ongoing opportunities provided by the State Government in creating enabling atmosphere, market and finance to encourage and develop agriculture through the use of modern technologies.

In his response, the Coordinator of the N-power beneficiaries, Mr. Mutairu Olalekan, appreciated the State Government for taking agriculture to the next level, promising that the beneficiaries across the State would tap into the agricultural opportunities.

He however appealed to government to also consider absorbing other interested beneficiaries into the Civil Service, while they were also engaged in agriculture.
